Scrapbooking Tip – Spacing

Spacing is a difficult matter. There is a fine line between having a balanced scrapbook page and too busy. If items are too closely spaced your reader will feel overwhelmed. If your items are spaced to far apart your viewer may not be as interested.

Do this exercise: Look at your page, then close your eyes – when you open them does your page look cluttered?  Does your page have more photographs than background?  Are your embellishments drawing the focus away from your mementos? or  Is your page bare or mono-toned?

When you look at layouts in idea books or magazines what do you like about them? Notice the spacing and amount of blank space.  Some people prefer a simple, clean look while others prefer a more collage like approach.  Both a great – it is just your personal style!
