I started with a dress from good will the top portion fit well but the skirt was unflattering at best. I purchased 2.5 yards of fabric for the skirt with a 60% off one cut which ended up being about $3 a yard.  I cut the bottom off the dress.  I then used a pattern for a flare skirt to get the general size and proportions to cut out the skirt I wanted which was more a line.  I cut out 4 fabric pieces and sewed them together then attached them to the skirt creating the finished dress in a few hours.

$3.50 dress
$7.50 fabric

$11 Total

I have been looking at all the fun up-cycle clothing ideas on pinterest.  So much to try! #travelingcrafter
